THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, NEW SOUTH WALES

Just an hour outside of Sydney, we visited the Three Sisters; a three peak rock formation listed as the most spectacular sight in the area.

Legend has it that three sisters were turned to stone by a witchdoctor protecting them from a tribal war, but the witchdoctor himself was killed before he could undo the spell. We can think of worse places to be stuck for eternity – the view is spectacular! There’s miles of sandstone cliffs and eucalyptus trees filling the valleys, creating the ‘blue haze’ that the mountains are famous for. Continue reading

NEWCASTLE, NEW SOUTH WALES

The coastal town of Newcastle was our last overnight stop before arriving back in Sydney, and although we had heard the beaches were something special, we had still completely underestimated them. Arriving late we checked into the YHA, it being too dark to take in our surroundings. The next morning we were dazzled by the beauty of the coastline!

Whilst everyone flocks to Bondi, we found the beach overcrowded and a touch overrated. We ventured to Manly and found a quiet cove there…
