There are so many weird and wonderful things in Bangkok, and we thought we’d seen it all with ladyboys in go-go bars and fried crickets, but nothing quite beats The Goddess Tuptim Shrine (Chao Mae Tuptim) on the unusual-ness scale. Women trying to conceive come to this small shrine in the back of a hotel car park to pray and make offerings of flowers or, more commonly, phallic-shaped figurines or ornaments. It makes for quite a display!
